There's a scene in Death: The High Cost of Living, where Death takes a baby. As she walks with it into the beyond, the baby complains that it's not fair, and Death replies that the baby got what everyone gets: a life.

It's a strangely affirming scene in many ways, and when I saw this tiny little marker with so little time on it those words came back to me suddenly. If you are reading this, you got what everyone gets - and have been far luckier than so many.
