129.7 - "An artist in an antique boat"

4 years old, distilled 29th June 2010, 64.5% abv, first fill ex-bourbon barrel, 272 bottles

DSC_0223The nose has a soft sweet vanilla, heavy smoke from a damp wood fire, and a vegetal note - like a pallette of wet vegetables. The mouthfeel is thin and sharp, with a little cling. The body has damp hessian, a summer greenhouse, soft scoop vanilla ice-cream and heavy smoke. The smoke and the ice-cream continue into the finish.

Water brings out thick, tightly compacted whorling that dissipates quickly. The nose has more vanilla and vegetal, less of the heavy smoke. The body gains a little dark chocolate, but loses the greenhouse note. The smoke builds somewhat towards the end. The balance of the finish changes - more towards the smoke than the vanilla ice-cream.

An excellent expression from this unique distillery. One to end the evening on - hopefully two or even three times!
