72.43 - "Bunsen Burner and Burnt Capacitors"

10 years old, distilled 23rd September 2004, 59.8% abv, first fill white wine hogshead, 262 bottles

A remarkable colour! Deep amber and glowing... The nose has toffee (poppets), vinegar and caramac alongside a restrained note of sultanas. The mouth-feel is thin with little cling. The body has wood notes - oak, camphor wood and some cardamom spice. The finish is sweet - vanilla ice-cream and sultanas.

Water brings tight, small whorling that's a little disappointing. The nose has no more vinegar, and more toffee - and a hint of a freshly opened bag of Tutti-Fruitis. The body has gained a touch of vinegar and vanilla ice-cream. The finish is more toffee and less vanilla ice-cream.
An interesting dram, perhaps with a dessert?

(An aside - the official tasting notes mention sulphur, and the title mentions burnt capacitors. I've blown/burnt my fair share of capacitors, and this has none of that acrid note. Also, no sulphur that I can detect... I just can't reconcile my notes with theirs at all!)
