SMWS 107.13 - Andalusian gazpachoThe nose has rich toffee and vanilla, with hints of peanut brittle and sultanas. There's also a very curious red wine note in the background that takes a moment to build. The mouthfeel is thin with no cling. The body has balsamic vinegar, toffee, and hints of dry-roasted peanuts. The finish is sultanas, toffee and a hint of balsamic vinegar. This is by far the oddest thing I have tasted on the list, yet by no means a bad sensation!

Water brings out thin, rapidly expanding whorling that settles into brief mottling. The nose gains raisins and mincemeat, and loses some of the toffee. The body gains more cinnamon and sultanas, plus oranges, raisins and currants. The finish gains orange peel and cinnamon.

This is a very odd whisky. It's also what the Society should do. It defies expectations, entertains and informs. One for winter days by a fireside.

Technical score: 3.5/5

Personal preference: I'd have another dram.
