The nose has toffee and soft caramels, with hints of honeycomb. The body has toffee, pear, apricot and hints of cinnamon. The finish has toffee, apricot and cinnamon with some star anise.
Water brings out thin, compact whorling that settles quickly into very brief mottling. The nose gains vanilla and apricot, and loses the caramels. The body gains vanilla and loses the toffee. The finish gains vanilla and some more wood spices.
A spicy dram balanced with some lovely fruity notes.
One for autumnal mornings.
Technical score: 4/5
Personal preference: Just the one dram, thanks.
