The nose has caramel, butterscotch and cardamom. The mouthfeel is thin with no cling. The body has herbal notes, cardamom, and then a bit of chilli spice. There’s also a hint of roast lamb in the background. The finish has chilli spice, and not much else.
Water brings out thin, compact whorling that settles quickly into brief mottling. The nose gains some vanilla and cinnamon, and loses the butterscotch and caramel. The body gains a lot more chilli spice and some cinnamon, along with vanilla sweetness. The finish gains cinnamon and more chilli.
Not really my style of dram - but intriguing without water.
One for winter afternoons.
Technical score: 3.5/5
Personal preference: Just the one dram, thanks.
