9 years old, distilled 8th June 2010, 60.7% abv, First Fill Ex-Bourbon Barrel, 231 bottles, dram price A
The nose has rosewater, candy floss, pear drops and lemon. The mouthfeel is thin with no cling. The body has lemon, rosewater, pears and hints of cedar wood. The finish has lemon, rosewater and cedar wood with a hint of ginger.
Water brings out thin, rapidly expanding whorling that settles into brief mottling. The nose gains cedar wood, and the lemon is diminished. The body gains ginger and honeycomb, and loses some of the rosewater. The finish gains more ginger and loses the rosewater.
A pleasant sweet dram that’s almost too hot, but holds it all together.
One for summer mornings.
Technical score: 3.5/5
Personal preference: I’d have another dram.
