11 years old, distilled 13th May 2009, 62.7% abv, First Fill Ex-Bourbon Barrel, 195 bottles, dram price B
Water brings out thin, rapidly spreading whorling that dissipates quickly without mottling. The nose gains vanilla and cinnamon and loses the green leafy notes. The body gains crystallised ginger, wood tannins and fudge and loses the pear. The finish gains crystallised ginger and wood tannins.
A dram that’s on the borderline of spiciness for me, but well constructed and pleasant.
One for autumn afternoons.
Technical score: 4/5
Personal preference: I’d have another dram.
