The nose has marzipan, old oak tables, tobacco, caramel and hints of grapefruit. The mouthfeel is decent, with some cling. The body has more of the marzipan and old oak, followed by walnuts, ginger and a little sherry. The finish is caramel and grapefruit.
Water brings out thin rapidly spreading whorling that settles quickly into mottling. The nose gains glacê cherries and polished wood. The body loses the marzipan and gains more of the sherried notes. The finish gains glacê cherries.
A lovely dram for dinner.
