The nose has dark cherry notes, oranges and brioche. The mouthfeel is decent but has no cling. The body has salted caramels, spiced oranges and a little charred oak, then a little sharp pineapple juice note just before the finish. The finish is brioche and spiced oranges.
Water brings out thin, compact whorling that settles into mottling but doesn't expand far. The nose now gains more of the oranges, and a little ginger. The body has become more tannic - old oak tables, tea chests and a little ginger - quite a change! The finish is also more tannic, losing the oranges and gaining ginger and green tea.
A good autumnal dram, for evening by the fire.
