SMWS 2.110 - Caked in custardThe nose has vanilla, marzipan, fennel and cherries. The mouthfeel is thin with no cling. The body has marzipan, danish pastries, and orange oil. The finish has marzipan and oranges.

Water brings out thick, rapidly expanding whorling that dissipates quickly without mottling. The nose gains gooseberry, and a little exotic wood. The body gains fresh oak, sandalwood and gooseberry, and a little more vanilla. The finish gains vanilla and gooseberry.

A solid dram which balances its wood notes with light fruit.

One for spring afternoons.

Technical score: 3.5/5

Personal preference: I'd have another dram.
