9 years old, distilled 10th April 2012, 60.4% abv, First Fill Ex-Bourbon Barrel, 231 bottles, dram price B
The nose has wax, marzipan, orange peel and hints of peach. The body has lots of fruit - mango, oranges, peach - then marzipan and candle wax. The finish has mango, oranges and peach and a little hint of marzipan.
Water brings out thick, compact whorling that spreads out quickly and slowly dissipates. The nose gains mango and loses the marzipan. The body gains more mango and some melon, and then candied lemons. The finish gains lemon and loses the marzipan.
A superb summer dram that can take water well.
One for summer days in the garden.
Technical score: 4.5/5
Personal preference: I’d like more than one bottle.
