SMWS 30.101 - Slipper sipperThe nose is immediately sherried - rich, deep and joined by plums, toffee, marmalade and hints of tobacco. It sounds awful when written, but is great! The mouthfeel is decent - a little cling. The body has toffee, black tea, wood spices and hints of marmalade. The finish is toffee, tobacco and oranges.

Water brings out thin, rapidly expanding whorling that slowly dissipates but never quite mottles. The nose gains fresh oak, leather, and a sudden high note of mango. The body gains orange rinds, fresh oak, cinnamon and a hint of horseradish. The finish gains cinnamon.

A remarkable heavy sherried dram - one for late in a summer's evening.

Technical score: 4/5

Personal preference: Just the one dram, thanks.
