SMWS 3.309 - Peat smoke, pipe ash and pata negraThe nose has sea breezes, liquorice, ash, and a hint of eucalyptus. The mouthfeel is thin, with no cling. The body has ash, vanilla, conference pear, hints of mango and aniseed towards the finish. The finish is ash, liquorice and aniseed with a hint of mango.

Water brings out thick, rapidly expanding whorling that settles into lingering mottling. The nose immediately explodes with ash and gains lemon. The body gains cinnamon and tar notes, with the previous fruit being a little louder. The finish gains more ash and a little sultana.

A dram that hides its talents under a bushel - but that aniseed note is personally borderline for me. I'll ignore it when scoring, but I find it difficult to say I'd be drinking it again.
