35.128 - "A tropical tango of taste"

11 years old, distilled 10th December 2002, 60.5% abv, first fill ex-bourbon barrel, 239 bottles

The nose was initially a little tart - stewed fruits and spices. There's also a little vanilla, mango, pineapple and guava. The mouth-feel is very thin, with little coating. The body has pineapple, coconut, and a little chilli sauce. It's warm, but not hot - on the edge of my tolerance for heat. The finish is sweet - pineapple and mango with a little vanilla and cinnamon and Jamaica cake.

Water brings thin, tightly packed and rapidly expanding whorling that settles pleasingly for a moment before dissipating. The nose now has more mango and pineapple, less vanilla. The body has guava, pineapple and coconut with a little cinnamon and again those West Indian spices that border on chilli heat. It's right on the border of heat, but still tolerable. The finish is sweet - hints of brown sugar, with more of the fruits from the body and nose.

A superb dram for a summer. The whole summer. Just keep drinking it until it gets cold...
