The nose has molasses and white grapes, with a hint of fennel. The mouthfeel is thin with little cling, but velvety smooth. The body has tannins, wood spices, sweet orange notes and a hint of Jamaican rum cake. The flavours are very hard to pick out, as it's a big bag of flavours! The finish is big, with more of the sweet oranges and a little ginger.
Water brings out thick, short-lived whorling that settles into mottling. The nose gains orange concentrate, and loses the molasses and fennel. The body has a similar change, with a move from Jamaican rum cake to Grannie's fruitcake! The finish is also sweeter, with more of those orange concentrate notes.
A great dram for dessert.
