8 years old, distilled 6th April 2007, 61.6% abv, First-Fill French Oak Hogshead, 258 bottles

The nose has caramel, treacle, vanilla and dried fruits (apricots? apples?). The mouthfeel is decent, smooth with no cling. The body has more dried fruits, caramel and honeyed notes. The finish is honey and dried apricots.

Water brings out thin, rapidly expanding whorling that settles quickly into brief mottling. The nose now has less caramel, more treacle, and it gains hints of mangoes and onions. The body gains mangoes and a lot of cinnamon and cardamom. The finish also gains cinnamon.

A wonderful discovery for the enthusiast, one to demonstrate wood effects at tastings without disappointing anyone!
