SMWS 41.141 - Whittling over a barbecueThe nose has floral hints - pot pourri? - then toffee and marzipan. The body has marzipan, toffee, cherries, and polished wood. The finish has cherries, polished wood and crystallised ginger.

Water brings out thick, compact whorling that settles into brief mottling. The nose gains liquorice and loses the floral hints. The body gains liquorice, danish pastries and hints of blood oranges, and loses the marzipan. The finish gains cinnamon and liquorice.

A decent sherried dram - not massive, but definitely sherried. Well worth investigating, it held sweet and heavy flavours together very well.

One for winter afternoons.

Technical score: 4/5

Personal preference: Just the one dram, thanks.
