The nose has distant bonfires of dry wood on a beach, herb gardens, wax and sea breezes. The mouthfeel is thin with no cling. The body has old oak, hessian cloth, brine and hints of herbs and citrus. The finish is faint - distant smoke and old oak.
Water brings out thin, compact whorling that lingers for a while without mottling. The nose gains more wax and hints of heather. The body gains hints of liquorice and more wood. The finish gains brine.
A summer whisky for barbecues.
Technical score: 3/5
Personal preference: I'd have another dram.
