The nose has maple-cured bacon, beach bonfires and a hint of vanilla. The mouthfeel is decent with no cling. The body has vanilla and sugar barley water at the top, and bonfire smoke at the bottom - and not much in between! It shouldn't work but it does. The finish has vanilla and maple notes alongside bonfire smoke.
Water brings out thin, rapidly expanding whorling that lingers for a brief moment but doesn't mottle. The nose gains lemon bon bons, cloves and hints of peanut. The body gains lemon, coal tar soap and hints of ginger and cloves. The finish has more of that lovely bonfire smoke.
A wonderful summer shoreline dram, for the warm night with a cool breeze.
Technical score: 4.5/5
Personal preference: I'd like more than one bottle.
