24 years old, distilled 15th May 1990, 58.3% abv, refill ex-bourbon barrel, 126 bottles

The nose has mahogany, toffee, raisins and a hint of blackcurrant. The mouth-feel is thick and viscous, coating the tongue nicely. The body has an initial hit of white pepper, then caramel and toffee with a little tobacco toward the back of the mouth. The finish is vanilla and tobacco.

Water brings out tight very shortly lived whorling. The nose now has less raisins, more wood - camphor wood? The body now has no white pepper - just toffee, caramel, cinnamon, camphor wood, tobacco and a hint of plums. The finish is less vanilla and more caramel and tobacco.

A big but well balanced dram, that deserves a fresh palate and a warm fire...
