The nose has fennel, white pepper and cinnamon, tea chests and a hint of smoke. The mouthfeel is thin with a little cling. The body has tea chests, lemon, and hints of smoked bacon. Then the smoke rolls in - light, sweet, not dominant, but there. The finish is sweet smoke (barbeques?) and cinnamon.
Water brings out thin, rapidly expanding whorling that settles quickly into lingering mottling. The nose gains more lemon and some chilli notes. The body gains lemon and hints of chilli. The finish gains lemon.
A fine dram for spring mornings at the seashore.
Technical score: 3/5
Personal preference: Just the one dram, thanks.
