SMWS 63.61 - Getting baked in the afternoonThe nose has sultanas, sweet cinnamon glazes, green apples and hints of fresh bread. The mouthfeel is thin with little cling. The body has fresh bread, green apples, cinnamon glazing and icing sugar, with hints of orange peel. The finish has cinnamon glazing, icing sugar, sultanas and green apples.

Water brings out thin, rapidly expanding whorling that settles quickly into brief mottling. The nose gains lychee and hints of hard oak and loses the fresh bread. The body gains more fruit - pears, red apples. The finish gains red apples and loses a little of the cinnamon.

Another belter of a young Glentauchers. This series of young excellence may not last, so get in while you can!

One for summer afternoons in the shade.

Technical score: 4/5

Personal preference: I’d like a bottle.
