SMWS 66.141 - Roofing felt on a beach hutThe nose has spring bonfire smoke (lots of fresh wood), charred wood and sandy beaches. The mouthfeel is thin with no cling. The body has charcoal, bonfire smoke, vanilla and hints of liquorice. The finish is smoke and liquorice.

Water brings out thin, compact mottling that settles quickly into brief mottling. The nose gains hessian and a little lime. The body gains lime and lemon, but loses nothing. The finish gains lemon and more liquorice.

A very good smokey dram, which shows you don’t need to be on Islay to be producing excellent peated whiskies.

One for summer evenings.

Technical score: 4.5/5

Personal preference: I’d like a bottle.
