SMWS 70.27 - Fire and earthThe nose has sultanas, plums, and hits of mulled wine. The mouthfeel is thin with no cling. The body has quince, brandy butter and cinnamon with a hint of ginger towards the finish. The finish is cinnamon and ginger with a hint of sultanas.

Water brings out thin, compact whorling that barely mottles. The nose gains cinnamon and hints of new oak furniture, but retains everything else. The body gains toffee and more of the brandy notes, and loses a little of the ginger. The finish loses some of the cinnamon and ginger, and gains some brandy.

This is a successful reracking, proving plenty of interesting flavours - one for firesides in autumn.

Technical score: 4/5

Personal preference: I'd have another dram.
