7.117 - "Mouth-coating, viscous and weighty"

24 years old, distilled 15th June 1990, 55.2% abv, refill ex-bourbon hogshead, 244 bottles

DSC_0187The nose has cinder toffee, peanut brittle and mangoes. The mouthfeel is thick and coating, with little expansion but a lot of linger. The body has watermelon, green apples, golden syrup, cinnamon and a hint of oak. The finish is sweet and sharp, with a little citrus over cinnamon and cinder toffee.

Water brings out looser, expanding whorling that lingers into short-lived mottling. The nose has a little more wood - old cigar boxes and no mangoes any more. The body has tea chests and toffee, and the finish has less citrus and more peanut brittle.

A decent dram for a fireside tipple.
