The nose has raisins, sultanas, demerara sugar, ginger and camphor wood. The mouthfeel is thin with no cling. The body has sultanas, ginger, demerara sugar and root ginger. The finish has ginger, sultanas and a eucalyptus note.
Water brings out thin, rapidly expanding whorling that settles into brief mottling. The nose gains plums and more sultanas, and loses the camphor wood. The body gains plums and apricots and loses the root ginger. The finish gains plums and loses some of the ginger.
A belter, but nicely balanced and fun to explore.
One for spring evenings.
Technical score: 4/5
Personal preference: I’d have another dram.
