The nose has raisins, sultanas and plums with brown sugar in the background. The mouthfeel is thin with no cling. The body has treacle, brown sugar, sultanas, raisins and cinnamon. The finish has treacle, sultanas and cinnamon.
Water brings out thick whorling that settles quickly into brief mottling. The nose gains marmalade and treacle, and loses the plums. The body gains almonds, vanilla and more cinnamon. The finish gains more cinnamon.
A very nicely sherried dram, with good balance and plenty of flavours.
One for winter evenings.
Technical score: 4/5
Personal preference: I’d have another dram.
