73.69 - "Dark side eclipsed by sweet joys"

22 years old, distilled 27th October 1992, 52.9% abv, refill ex-sherry butt, 620 bottles

The nose has mahogany, rum and raisin ice cream, caramel, walnut and hoisin duck. The mouth-feel is thin and lacks coating. The body has treacle, walnut, vanilla and a hint of citrus. The finish is oranges and vanilla.

Water brings out thin lingering whorling that settles pleasingly into mottling at the bottom of the glass. The nose now has more citrus (oranges) and vanilla, less mahogany. The body has less treacle, more oranges and some cinnamon. The finish is much the same.

A decent dram to accompany an ice-cream dessert.
