77.36 - "Easy peasy lemon squeezy"

13 years old, distilled 3rd April 2001, 59.3% abv, refill ex-bourbon hogshead, 267 bottles

The nose has artificial florality, like an air freshener, then gives light toffee and Battenburg cake. The mouth-feel is a little astringent but not clingy - quite pleasant to have a moment's challenge! The body has balsa wood, pineapple, mango and a little lemon. The finish is long and sweet, with lemon and lime on a vanilla base.

Water brings tight whorling that expands quickly and lingers for a short while, mottling the whisky in a pleasing manner. The nose now has melon and mangoes, and a hint of cut grass. The body has more toffee alongside the fruit and wood. The finish is toffee and lemon.

A decent dram for a warm summer's evening.
