10 years old, distilled 4th March 2009, 59.5% abv, Refill Ex-Bourbon Hogshead, 262 bottles, dram price A
The nose has foam bananas, pineapple and coconut water, with hints of peppermint. The mouthfeel is thin with a little cling - but you can feel the alcohol! The body has toffee, pineapple chews, peppermint, extra strong mints. The finish continues with the toffee and extra strong mints.
Water brings out thin, rapidly expanding whorling that settles into brief mottling. The nose gains more banana and coconut, and a hint of raspberry. The coconut and peppermint are diminished. The body gains raspberry and more pineapple, but loses some of the mint notes. The finish gains more pineapple and hints of raspberry but loses the mint.
A decent dram reminiscent of sweet shops, and it took water well.
One for spring afternoons.
Technical score: 4.5/5
Personal preference: I’d like a bottle.
