85.29 - "Best of the Med"

15 years old, distilled 6th October 1999, 54.2% abv, refill ex-bourbon hogshead, 290 bottles

The nose has sweet tea and drumstick lollipops, brown sugar and perhaps cardamom. The mouth-feel is thin with no coating. The body has honey, mead, sage, vanilla and watermelon. The finish is long, sweet and very pleasant - vanilla, sweet tea and a little cardamom.

Water brings thick, expanding whorling that settles into lasting mottling at the bottom of the glass. The nose now has a little white grape, but isn't much changed over the unwatered nose. The body has lost the sage note, and gained a little star anise. The finish is much the same.

A very good dram for a fresh sunny spring morning.
