9.102 - "Gun cabinets and flying saucers"

19 years old, distilled 23rd April 1996, 59.7% abv, refill ex-bourbon hogshead, 244 bottles

DSC_0247Pine needles, fresh wood sap, apricot, lemongrass and a hint of honey. The mouthfeel is thin and sharp, with little cling. The body has pineapple, lemons, orange zest, cinnamon, coconut and cedarwood. The finish is long and sweet - vanilla, coconut and an unexpected sherbet dip!

Water brings out thick, short-lived whorling that turns to brief mottling. The nose now gains sherbet dip and cedarwood. The body loses the cedarwood and gains more lemon. The finish is unchanged.

A decent spring dram for a cold morning that needs some sunshine.
