The nose has oranges, strawberries, watermelon and vanilla. The mouthfeel is thin with no cling. The body has strawberries, rolled oats and vanilla, building towards cinnamon at the finish. The finish has cinnamon and vanilla.
Water brings out thin, rapidly expanding whorling that quickly settles into brief mottling. The nose gains more strawberry and some hints of sawdust, and loses the oranges. The body gains custard and more cinnamon. The finish is unchanged.
The cinnamon becomes a bit much, but this is a decent and very fruity dram. One for an autumnal afternoon, just as the sun hits the trees and the wind turns colder.
3.5/5 (And would be 3/5 if I didn't like strawberries so much...)
This whisky was provided by the SMWS in a preview session - thanks to them for that. Full editorial control has been retained in the tasting process!
