The nose has toffee, coffee, bananas and a hint of vinegar. The mouthfeel is thin with no cling. The body has linseed oil, banana, coffee grounds and a little hint of vanilla and cardamom. The finish is toffee and a hint of banana.
Water brings out thick whorling that rapidly spreads into brief mottling. The nose gains linseed oil and loses the coffee. The body gains nutty notes - hazelnut nougat, roasted chestnuts - and a little more banana. The finish is unchanged.
A decent dram that manages to hold together a lot of wood without it all splintering apart. One to drink with a meal.
Technical score: 3/5
Personal preference: Just the one dram, thanks.
