Vanilla, caramel, sultanas, hints of summer meadows and butterscotch on the nose. The body moves towards fudge, lemon, and leather - a curious combination! The mouth-feel is coating but not that thick - and the strength of the alcohol dominates! The finish is fudge and pine, and quite full.
After water - which produces tight whorls that vanish very quickly - the nose loses the sultanas but gains stronger floral notes. The body gains pine sap and loses the leather note. The finish is a little more fudge than before.
As it sits, it tends to move towards more pine.
A very pleasant dram to start a warm summer's day.
