8 years old, distilled 24th September 2010, 56.6% abv, First Fill Ex-Bourbon Barrel, 237 bottles, dram price B
The nose has rosewater, custard creams, banana, pineapple and gooseberries. The mouthfeel is decent with a little cling. The body has banana, pineapple, lemon, coconut and custard creams. The finish has custard creams, pineapple, sour apples and a hint of wood spice.
Water brings out thin, rapidly expanding whorling that settles quickly without mottling. The nose gains lemon and loses the rosewater and gooseberries. The body gains waxed lemons and more cereal notes - flapjacks, cornflakes. The finish gains waxed lemons.
A very nice dram, showing how this distillery can shine at an early age.
One for summer afternoons.
Technical score: 4.5/5
Personal preference: I’d like a bottle.
