15 years old, distilled 1st October 2002, 56.7% abv, First Fill Ex-Moscatel Hogshead, 289 bottles, dram price C
The nose has floral notes, orange chew sweets and a hint of digestive biscuit. The mouthfeel is thin with no cling. The body has orange chew sweets, oak and a sour fizzy note (Nerdz sweets?). The finish is oak and that sour fizzy note.
Water brings out thin, rapidly expanding whorling that doesn’t get a chance to mottle before it dissipates. The nose gains pears and green apples and loses the digestive biscuit. The body gains orange chew sweets and loses some of the sourness. The finish gains orange concentrate and loses the sour note.
An interesting dram that I’m not sure worked in this cask.
One for autumn evenings.
Technical score: 3/5
Personal preference: Just the one dram, thanks.
