The nose has toffee, currants, brandy, and a hint of tobacco that grows with time. The mouthfeel is thick with some coating. The body has tannins - leather, burnt oak, maple syrup, sherry and a touch of dark chocolate towards the finish. The finish is toffee and sherry.
Water brings out thin, slowly spreading whorling that settles into lasting mottling. The nose now gains raisins and a hint of options Opal Fruits, and has lost the tobacco notes. The body has more sherry and gains liquorice and brown sugar. The finish is unchanged.
A great dram for dessert.
