SMWS Back to School Outturn

SMWS G8.6 - Jazzed up banana splitThe August outturn is titled "Back to school". I'd have called it "lemon and lime", as those notes kept popping up. It's a great list for the weather - light, sweet and fruity.

It's not a list tht all will rave over - no sherry, only one peated whisky, and two Sauternes finishes. Personally, I'm not fussed about trying to get some mythical balance on every list, but I can see why some might complain.

My favourite was, predictably, the lovely and succulent Cambus. Also excellent were the Glen Grant, the Balmenach, the Linkwood, the Glen Ord and the Bladnoch. And there's good news for peat fans - whilst there may only be one whisky for you, it's a good one - the Laphroaig also impressed me.

It's summertime, and the dramming is easy. I really enjoyed writing these notes, and think I'll be coming back to a number of these drams over the coming months.
