G15.6 - Apple cart and custard

8 years old, distilled 20th April 2010, 58.6% abv, Second Fill Ex-Bourbon Barrel, 228 bottles, dram price A

G15.6 - Apple cart and custardThe nose has balsa wood, blackcurrant and pears. The mouthfeel is thin with no cling. The body has pear, green apple, pineapple, kiwi fruit, banana and coconut matting. The finish has apple, pineapple and coconut.

Water brings out thin, rapidly expanding whorling that dissipates quickly without mottling. The nose gains apple and loses the blackcurrant. The body gains more kiwi fruit and hints of peach, and loses the coconut. The finish gains peach and loses the apple.

A superb young grain that delivers bright, clean fruit and joy.

One for summer afternoons.

Technical score: 4.5/5

Personal preference: I’d like more than one bottle.
